Activist who helped legalize medical pot in California, dies

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Dennis Peron, an activist who helped legalize medical marijuana in California, has died at 72.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Peron died Saturday in a San Francisco medical institution.

Peron used to be a drive in the back of a San Francisco ordinance permitting medical marijuana - a transfer that later aided the 1996 passage of Proposition 215 that legalized medical use in all the state.

Peron used to be a few of the first folks to argue for some great benefits of medicinal marijuana for AIDS sufferers because the well being disaster overtook San Francisco.

The Chronicle stated the epidemic took his spouse, Jonathan West, in 1990.

San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors identified Peron, struggling with late-stage lung most cancers, with a certificates of honor closing 12 months.
