Alabama senator Jones to address Mississippi Democrats

BRANDON, Miss. (AP) - Newly elected U.S. Sen. Doug Jones of Alabama will address Mississippi Democrats at their annual dinner Saturday in Brandon.

The dinner had historically been known as the Jefferson-Jackson-Hamer dinner, however Democrats are actually calling it the Hamer-Winter dinner, named for civil rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer and previous Democratic Gov. William Winter.

Democratic Chair Bobby Moak says the trade used to be made to focal point on honoring Mississippians.
