BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Canadian guy has admitted to smuggling handguns from the United States into Canada, together with some that had been left in a library that straddles the border of Vermont and Canada.
Authorities say 40-year-old Alexis Vlachos, of Montreal, pleaded in charge Monday in federal court docket in Burlington. He might be sentenced to 20 years in jail.
Court paperwork say that between 2010 and 2011, Vlachos labored with others to get about 100 handguns bought from sellers in Florida into Canada, which restricts handgun possession.
Some of the guns had been left on the Haskell Library by way of an companion. Vlachos then retrieved them and took then into Canada. Other guns had been carried throughout a far flung stretch of border.
